Questions dads ask about star signs
Do I need her exact birth time for this?
No. Everything here is sun-sign level, which only needs her birth date. Birth time and place matter for a full natal chart with a rising sign and moon sign, and that is a different exercise. If you do not know her birth time to the minute, you are not missing anything on these pages.
She was born on a cusp date. Which sign is she?
Cusps are not really a thing astrologically: the sun is in one sign or the other at the moment of birth, with no overlap. Dates shift by a day either way between years, so if she was born within a day of a boundary, check her birth year specifically rather than trusting a generic date range.
Is any of this science?
No, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Astrology is not predictive and nothing here should shape a decision about your daughter. It is a shared bit of language and a nice way into a conversation about what she is like, which is the only thing we use it for.
What are the elements about?
The twelve signs group into four elements — fire, earth, air and water — with three signs each. It is the quickest way to get a feel for the traditional character of a sign without reading all twelve, and it is why the cards here are colour-coded by element.
Is it healthy to tell a child what her star sign says she is like?
Hold it lightly. Kids take an adult description of themselves seriously, so framing it as “this is what the old story says about your sign” lands very differently from “this is what you are”. Used as a starting point for her to agree or disagree with, it is good fun. Used as a label, it is not.
