Before you book
Questions dads actually ask
What counts as an experience rather than a day out?
An experience is something you book, turn up for and do together with a start time and an end: a climbing session, a cooking class, a rafting trip. A day out is a place you wander into at your own pace. If the thing has an instructor and a slot, it is here.
What age do these actually work from?
Every listing carries a best-age note, because the honest answer differs wildly. Cooking classes and chocolate workshops generally land from about five. Harnessed climbing and high ropes usually need a minimum height rather than an age, often around 1.2 metres. Indoor skydiving takes younger kids than most parents expect.
Are these worth the money compared to a free day out?
Sometimes not, and the Value pillar in each Dad Score says so plainly. What you are buying is a couple of hours where neither of you can drift onto a phone and someone else is running the plan. That is worth a lot on a wet Saturday and very little on a sunny one.
Do you get paid to list these?
No. Nothing here is a paid placement and no operator has ever paid for a score or a position. If a listing ever carries an affiliate or partner link it will be labelled on the page.
How far ahead should I book?
For most of these, a week is plenty outside school holidays. In half-terms and over Christmas the popular slots go a month out, particularly the cooking classes with small class sizes. Book the earliest slot of the day where you can: quieter, calmer, and you still have the afternoon.
